David McAlmont is a songwriter, vocalist, activist, art historian and educator of Guyanese and Nigerian parentage. His musical career has spanned three decades and he has performed everywhere, from opening for Morrissey on at Theatre Royal Drury Lane to the BBC’s Later with Jools Holland.

Lola Flash

Lola Flash is a photographer who initially became known for her use of cross-colour technique, producing striking pieces of work in inverted colours. She was part of the Art Positive artist collective and during the AIDS crisis in New York City she was an active participant in ACT UP, a grassroots political group aiming to support people with AIDS and end the pandemic. Her work in often concerned with marginalised groups and topics of race, gender, age, sexuality and identity. Flash was also one of the models featured in the 1989 “Kissing Doesn’t Kill” poster.

Kenta Placide is an LGBT and Human rights activist from St Lucia. As an HIV activist she has been a major instigator of the discussion around LGBT issues in the Caribbean and the international community, a conversation of which she remains at the forefront. She is an executive director for United and Strong and the Eastern Caribbean Coordinator of the Caribbean Forum for Liberation and Acceptance of Genders and Sexualities.

Amiyah Scott Amiyah Scott is a model, dancer, actress, author and entrepreneur. As a respected member of the ballroom community, she rose to prominence when her performances found an enthusiastic audience on YouTube. She played Lee Daniels in the show Star, placing her among the first trans-women of colour to appear on television. An activist and advocate for transgender women-of-colour Scott also delivers motivational speeches on self-acceptance.

James Mercer Langston Hughes remains a legend of African American literature. As a writer and pioneer of the Harlem renaissance, he produced columns, plays, novels, short stories and poetry.
